I moved out to Wauwatosa in December but with the bitter cold winter I hadn’t had much time to explore everything it has to offer. I figured it would be appropriate to begin my spring break with a trip to Hawaii…or at least a Hawaiian restaurant. In the heart of Wauwatosa lies a market and restaurant that sells everything you could imagine from Hawaii, except for the weather, which we could have used on that day.
You can dine in or take your food to go. They have what are known as bento boxes where the main dish of meat is served with rice and another side. I got kalua pork with li hing carrot-pineapple slaw and rice. The portion size was more than enough so I finished the rest at home for dinner but it was absolutely delicious!
I also really enjoyed the hot sauce that I put on top of the kalua pork. It tastes as if BBQ sauce and hot sauce had a baby, inside of a pineapple. I guess you just have to taste it to understand. Luckily for me, it was for sale!
Another restaurant I really liked was Firefly Urban Grill. Located in the Downtown it offers contemporary food for all types. We have had both the fondue and the bacon wrapped dates for an appetizer and the burgers are fantastic. They of course offer a variety of different dishes like flatbreads and pasta dishes. For dessert you can make s’mores at the table!
There are many more restaurants and events in Wauwatosa to see and do. I am most excited to check out the farmer’s market during the summer. So be sure to check back because I will be updating this post with more!
